Employment Growth Forecast For Bournemouth (Ezine Ready)
There has been plenty of good news for job seekers who live in and around the Bournemouth area in recent months as the popular Dorset coastal town is set to enjoy a much-needed period of growth in jobs. This will be exceptionally welcome in a town which has many prominent employers, but lies within a region where employment can often be seasonal, irregular or simply harder to find than elsewhere in the UK.
The unemployment rate in Bournemouth stood at 3.6% in January of this year, which is equivalent to 3,925 people (according to NOMIS reports). The vast majority of those who are claiming benefits are aged 35 to 49, whilst the typical jobseeker has been unemployed for less than 3 months. Sources believe that these figures are set to get much rosier, thanks to a number of positive factors that are having a discernible impact on the region.
Firstly, after many years during which locals have expressed the idea that their region was under-valued, a number of key regeneration projects are to be kicked-off. Six projects in conjunction with the Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership are being considered, following a cash injection from the Government totalling nearly £6.5million. They currently include plans to purchase land near neighbouring Poole to enable the creation of 10,000 homes and 13,700 jobs, plus the intention to develop spaces for local creative industries, which should give a superb boost to the number of jobs in the Bournemouth area.
In addition, supermarket giant Asda has said that it will offer up to 5,000 new positions in Dorset, as part of their £500million expansion drive. Regarding the Walmart-owned retailer’s plans, Nigel Hedges, the president of the Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce, welcomed the broadly uplifting news, also stating that he hoped it would bring additional employment to the Bournemouth Asda operations.
Such spirited initiatives, combining as they have in a dual wave of government funding and private sector investments, can transform towns like Bournemouth in a significantly short space of time. Job seekers should therefore take heart, as more and more investment appears to be coming Dorset’s way and it is not just one or two companies.
The major local transport hub, Bournemouth Airport, is also on an upward trajectory, in the midst of development plans that will double the number of passengers passing through it to 4 million by 2030. As it grows and thrives in the meantime, so do the number of jobs within the airport itself; both within companies that are based at the airport and the ground services they provide. The formula is straightforward – invest enthusiastically in an area’s businesses and the opportunities for employment will start to grow accordingly.
It is also very important to keep supporting the drive to encourage a high number of working-age residents, tourists and other visitors to populate the Bournemouth area. Over 93% of the local workforce are employed in services, so the plans to support, for example, greater levels of affordable housing in the area, ultimately end up contributing to those businesses and the number of jobs that they can make available.
The message is quite clear, Bournemouth is on the rise and jobseekers should be
encouraged. Whether the desired work is seasonal, a student job, or regular full-time employment, now is the time to top up new skill sets, make enquiries and get in front of key potential employers. Above all the projections for a rise in employment levels encourages jobseekers to think positive… and watch as the jobs follow suit.

Tips To Make Changing Careers Successful For You (Ezine Ready)
Often, with the beginning of the new year comes a time of questioning for many people who have started to wonder whether it isn’t time for a sea change. Whilst some people will pack up the family and move them to the coast or the country, others will settle with changing careers and see how that goes for them. This can be quite an adjustment, however, and many people will fail in only a few short weeks after realizing that they aren’t in a financial position to make this decision viable at the moment. Use these tips to help ensure that you are successful:
Create an action plan
Many people become stressed out when they feel that they aren’t in control of their own lives, but creating an action plan can really help to put a stop to these feelings. Changing careers is not something that will happen overnight – you will need to plan out time to research your passions and interests, then time to whittle this down to a couple of careers you are interested in, then more time to look into the advantages and disadvantages of each option. Finally, you are able to start looking for a new job.
Look at your lifestyle goals
Changing careers is not just about finding another job that you love and are passionate about – this is the perfect time to achieve all the lifestyle goals you’ve set for yourself but never achieved in the past. Do you want to spend more time with the family? Consider a career that works less hours, even though you may get paid less. Do you want to be healthier in mind and body? Consider a career that doesn’t involve sitting at a desk for long periods of time per day.
Meet with a financial advisor
One of the biggest adjustments that you will have to make when changing careers is in the lowering of your budget. Often, the best way to work this out is to meet with a financial advisor before leaving your current job so that you will have some idea of what to expect when you are no longer employed. If changing careers to something lesser paying, a financial advisor can also help you out with long term budgeting.
At the end of the day, it is important to remember that changing careers is not something that will happen overnight – plenty of research and adjustments will be made before you finally settle into a new job and have some money flowing into the bank accounts again. By planning out changing careers, you can ensure that you are financially secure during this time and are successful in finding a new passion.
